We realized our final project on May 7 at 9 am (SLT). Our students, proffesors of both universities (Çağ and TUD), Whole Brain Health team, Sitearm, course assistants and SL users from different parts of the world attended the final presentations.
The event started with the speech of Lissena (Wisdomseeker) from the WBH team. Liss started her speech with introducing the project team, student groups and the themes of the projects. Later, Tooyaa, also from the WBH team, introduced the contents of the student presentations and the team that will assist the participants throughout the event. She also informed the participants about the presentation times and the program flow.
After Tooyaa's speech, John O'Connor from TUD gave an introductory speech. John O'Connor mentioned that although the students did not have any experience with SL at the beginning of the semester, they were able to prepare a project here with hard work. After John O'Connor's speech, Murat Gülmez, the responsible lecturer of the course from Çağ University, started his speech by introducing himself, talked about the importance of these technologies today and the advantages offered by such platforms, and thanked those who contributed to the project.
After the introductory speeches, the student presentations started with the Purple Team. Purple Team made a presentation with the theme of Society, one of the three pillars of sustainability. The group started its presentation by defining the society. Then, they talked about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to the Society theme. Purple Team also emphasized the importance of the issue in its presentation on gender equality, which it is supported with various statistics. Talking about the effects of the pandemic on society, the group also talked about the collaborations made to achieve sustainable development goals. In addition, the group provided various statistical information to draw attention to poverty and inequality around the world.
After the Purple Team completed their presentation, the Red Team made a presentation on the society theme again. In their presentation, Red Team focused on the effects of the pandemic on society. Then, explaining the importance of sustainability for the society, the group also explained the UN sustainable development goals. The group also talked about the advantages of using second life and the work that can be done in second life. Finally, the Red Team emphasized the importance of education for a sustainable society.
After the Red Team, Silver Team made a presentation with the theme of Economy, which is another sub-theme of sustainability. The group started by explaining the importance of a sustainable economy. In addition, the group talked about the obstacles to a sustainable economy and the importance of stability in the economy. Afterwards, the group explained the policies that can be applied for a sustainable economy and supported its presentation with relevant examples. The group concluded their presentation by explaining the importance of recycling for a sustainable economy.
The next group, Gold Team, also talked about sustainable economy. Gold Team drew attention to poverty in the economy and inequality around the world and supported its presentation with relevant statistics. The group then talked about the effects of the pandemic on the economy. Focusing on the economic goals of sustainable development, the group explained the goals and what could be done on the subject. Finally, the group talked about the SL economy.
Later, Blue Team made a presentation about another piilar of sustainability, 'environment'. The group started their presentation by explaining UN sustainable development goals. Then, explaining the importance of environmental protection for sustainability, the group talked about the precautions that can be taken in this regard. The group also emphasized that plastic pollution, environmental pollution, and air pollution should be prevented.
Finally, Green Team made a presentation with the theme of environment. Green Team talked about renewable energy in their presentations and gave various examples from its applications (such as solar energy, wind energy). The group also emphasized the importance of the issue by emphasizing climate change. Finally, the group talked about the importance of water for the environment and the need to use it carefully.
After the student presentations were completed, the lecturers in charge of the course and the WBH team gave their closing speeches and thanked the students and participants. Afterwards, the project team had a group photo taken. After the photo shoot, Fly Kugin gave a live concert and the event ended.
